Minority Opinions

Not everyone can be mainstream, after all.

Robot Science

After reading how a sufficiently smart artificial intelligence could potentially build a nanotech factory once it had access to proteins of its own design in the right environment, it scared me to discover that scientists have given an AI control over yeast cultures and taught it the scientific method.  That particular robot is probably limited to the general question domain for which it was designed, but that kind of behavior sounds exactly like something that could lead to an uncontrolled Singularity.

On a related note, I’ve finally gotten around to playing Portal 2.  Sleep, a full-time job, three children, one snake, and this blog take up the rest of my time, which means I probably won’t continue any personal programming projects until it’s done.
