New use for radishes

leave a comment »

My faithful companion apologized last night for having so few vegetables to put on our tacos.  The onion and bell pepper were earmarked for other recipes, and the lettuce had just been used in a salad, leaving us with only beans, corn, olives, and salsa.  A last-minute suggestion to enhance my tacos with left-over radishes sounded at first like a joke, but then I remembered how spicy they tend to taste.  Odd as it seems, they worked really well:  One bite had a bit too much radish, but it was surprising instead of distasteful; otherwise, they complemented the salsa with a peppery flavor and added the fresh crunch that normally comes from lettuce.
